Äripäev worked out, in partnership with Uptime, the methodology of sending interest-based emails

Over the past 8 months, Äripäev (part of Bonnier Group in Estonia, business daily and news services) has developed a new methodology for sending up e-mails in partnership with the software development partner Uptime. This would take greater account of the interests of the readers and send them fewer, but better-quality, interest-based emails.

The amendments will also take into account Regulation No. 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR) of the European Parliament and the Council of 25 May this year.

The purpose of the GDPR is to protect citizens of the European Union from their personal data leakage and to regulate the activities of companies with such data. Those who do not comply with the new regulation may receive a fine.

With this project, Uptime acquired valuable experience in aligning the information system of client with GDPR requirements.

However, publishing company Äripäev got a methodology for targeting clients more specifically by their interests. Readers will receive newsletters that are likely to be more interesting for them and emails can not reach the mailbox with content that do not overlap their interests.
